SiA serves as the welfare and cultural organization for students across the south coast of Norway. With its student housing locations, SiA combines a secure living environment with efficient, convenient access for both residents and staff.

Challenge:

At its 300-unit student housing property in Grimstad, SiA, an adaptable access control ecosystem for a range of door and entry environments. This included locations where traditional locks were not feasible, as well as doors fitted with regional SIS-standard lock cases. SiA also wanted to reduce staff reliance on stationary terminals and establish a scalable foundation able to keep pace with evolving security risks and resident expectations.

Solution:

SiA deployed cutting-edge security access technology from Vingcard to ensure maximum safety, efficiency and convenience for both residents and staff members across the property. Vingcard R-Series readers provide SiA’s facility with an ideal solution to managing authorized room and building access where traditional locks are not feasible, while Vingcard Novel SIS ensures deployment compatibility for locations featuring regional mechanical lockcase standards.

Both Vingcard Novel SIS and Vingcard R-Series readers feature built-in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Near Field Communication (NFC) compatibility. Together with the property’s use of redesigned Vingcard Signature RFID door locks for more standard entry areas, this means that SiA gains the ability to later activate mobile key-based room and building entry services without needing to first replace existing hardware. With the door lock solutions enabled with NFC technology and supported by Vostio Access Management, this ability also includes the option to provide mobile key compatibility with personal digital wallets.

Vostio Access Management’s cloud-based design is credited by SiA for substantially saving employee time while enhancing overall security capabilities. Each staff member can instantly access their user profile within the system from virtually any internet-connected device, allowing them to remotely monitor and receive updates on room access-related operations without first having to locate a stationary terminal or step away from other tasks.
